• First, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. There are a number of different styles of yoga to choose from as you start your journey. I encourage you to get curious and push yourself to the edge of your comfort zone. That’s where the magic happens.

Here are some of the most common you may come across:

Vinyasa links breath to movement, throughout a sequence of poses or asanas that can feel a bit like a dance.

Yin, in contrast to vinyasa, is a quiet contemplative practice. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. Poses are held longer to go deeper.

Resorative is a style of yoga that encourages physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. It is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, and deep breathing.

There are dozens of other yoga styles that have been introduced in the western world. I cannot say I’ve tried them all. If you have heard of or tried any not listed, let me know. I love adding new styles to my to-try list.

  • Absolutely! All classes are suitable for all levels of yoga practitioners.

  • Props are not required but do maximize the benefit of any yoga pose, regardless of the comfort or experience level of the student.

Some may find it helpful to have a set of blocks, a blanket or pillow, a yoga strap or belt or dog leash within reach.

  • Whatever you feel most comfortable in. I recommend less restriction and adding layers so you can shed them as needed and add them for savasana.

  • I recommend a slow approach, adding in practice 1-2 times per week and trying options with props to access the poses in the most supportive way for your body.

As with any new fitness regimen, talk to your doctor if you’re unsure about the impact it will have on your body.

  • Currently my public classes are only available online. I’m available for in-person private sessions and workshops. Reach out to me via the contact form to learn more.
